Biography

Zeinab Anis Jaber has completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies at Université Saint Joseph (USJ), graduating from the Ecole de Traducteurs et d’Interprètes de Beyrouth (ETIB) with a BA in Living Languages- Translation Emphasis, a TD in Living Languages- Interpreting Emphasis, and an MA in Interpreting. She’s currently pursuing her PhD at the Lebanese University. Her thesis revolves around the integration of theory in translation curricula and the implications thereof for quality assessment and assurance. Upon finishing her MA in 2005, JABER started her teaching career at local universities. Soon after, she joined the Lebanese International University (LIU) where she played an instrumental role in designing the curriculum of the translation program and in establishing an independent department for modern languages and translation: the Department of Languages & Translation which she headed for around a decade. As a researcher, she has made several contributions to refereed journals and conferences. Her research interests include: translator education quality, activist translator training, language dynamics, translation ethics, and translation politics.  As a professional language service provider, she has worked for a variety of clients, including international agencies and NGOs. In 2015, she co-founded and managed a translation company for around a year before launching her own agency.
