Yvonne Nygård works as Assistant Professor in the Division of Industrial Biotechnology, specializing in cell factory design. She has a special interest in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology. Her research aims to accelerate the design-build-test cycle for making novel production hosts for converting lignocellulosic (plant) biomass into sustainable fuels, materials or high-value chemicals. Yvonne works with industrial microorganisms, in particular Saccharomyces cerevisiae, focusing on developing this yeast into a more robust, inhibitor-tolerant cell factory.
