Biography

COL Bill Pickard’s first relationship with Campbell was as an adjunct faculty member during his full time position at Duke University and was voted preceptor of the charter graduating pharmacy class. He came to Campbell University as a full-time faculty member in August 2006. Historically he has been the course director and taught Medical Ethics, Physical Assessment courses/labs and Bioterrorism. COL Pickard has been the Clinical Research Department Chair since July 2011. COL Pickard’s passion for research began during his clinical pharmacy residency. He was a member of the Infectious Diseases Division in the Department of Medicine at Duke for over 25 years where he performed hundreds of clinical trials in many infectious diseases related areas with a main focus in the immunocompromised host cancer population at Duke as well as the very first two AZT trials in AIDS in the world. COL Pickard had his hands on research related to many of the marketed antimicrobial agents on the market today. He was recently awarded the Life Time Achievement Award from the Pharmacy Times journal and the Next Generation Pharmacist.
