Prof. Rutter co-founded Chiron Corporation in 1981 and was Chairman from its inception until 1999. He has received numerous awards for his academic and industry achievements, including the 2003 Biotechnology Heritage Award. He is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and author of over 300 publications in prominent scientific journals.
