Biography

I graduated in 2009 from EIT and took a nursing entry to practice position in the orthopaedic ward with the Hutt Valley District Health Board.  From there I worked in the medical/surgical ward at the Wairarapa District Health Board before taking on a team leader role in a hospital-level care wing in an aged care facility.  Aged care is where I found my true passion in nursing. In 2015, I completed my Master of Nursing and my research focused on the perceptions of Registered Nurses and General Practitioners of a Nurse Practitioner-led model of care in aged care. Other areas of research that I am interested in focus on how the clinical environment in aged care influences Registered Nurses’ practice, family’s perceptions of care delivery in aged care, and the socio-political factors impacting on aged care in New Zealand.

Research Intrest

How the clinical environment in aged care influences Registered Nurses’ practice, family’s perceptions of care delivery in aged care, and the socio-political factors impacting on aged care in New Zealand.
