Biography

Tom Wood currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the USGS Core Science Systems Mission Area. Prior to this role, Tom served as Acting Deputy Associate Director for Geospatial Information and as the Chief of Computing Infrastructure in the GIO's Information Technology and Security Office (ITSO). Tom's GIO responsibilities included bureauwide services for collaborative communications, directory services, USGS Service Desk, enterprise hardware and software contracts, and Bureau Windows and Unix technical support teams. Prior to joining the GIO in 2003, Tom spent most of his career in the Water Resources Discipline, last serving as the Distributed Information System (DIS) Office Chief.
