Terence C.W. Poon is currently Associate Professor at University of Macau. Dr. Poon received his B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Ph.D. degree in Pathological Sciences and postdoctoral training from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Later he received a M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester. Dr. Poon has a major interest in development of proteomic and bioinformatic methodologies and their applications to gastrointestinal disease research, especially on diagnosis and clinical outcome prediction. His research team is identifying the cellular proteins differentially expressed in liver cancer. Recently he has joined the China Human Proteome Organization, and participates in the Chinese Human Liver Proteome Project. Currently he is the Council member of the Hong Kong Proteomics Society, and the Vice President of Hong Kong Society of Mass Spectrometry. In 2007, he received the Most Promising Young Researcher Award from the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
