Biography

Sue West is the Associate Director of Policy and Service Development at the Royal Children's Hospital's Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) and Co-Group leader of Child Health Policy, Equity and Translation at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. Her research priorities are knowledge translation and exchange and place-based approaches to improving outcomes for children in disadvantaged communities. She leads the knowledge translation work of the CCCH which aims to inform early childhood policy, service delivery, professional practice and parenting. She brings a wealth of experience to this role having led large-scale knowledge translation initiatives in universities for more than a decade. She leads a national program of work which aims to accelerate understanding and action to improve disadvantaged communities for children and families. This aligns with her earlier practitioner experience in the western suburbs of Melbourne and her substantial policy experience focusing on service system reform and community engagement.
