Department of Silicate Technology has a mission to disseminate knowledge in the field of Materials Science and Engineering developing fundamental understanding of the nature of inorganic matter; to create possibilities for the students and young researchers to work at the industry, at scientific centres and laboratories and government organizations, aiming to obtain the appropriate knowledge and skills for creating new materials with nontraditional properties and vanguard technology for their production. The Department trains students from (i) the Faculty of Chemical Technologies at BSc. level with major in Technology of Glass, Ceramic and Binding Materials and at MSc. level with major in Glass, Ceramic and Binding Materials; (ii) the Faculty of Metallurgy and Material Sciences at BSc. level with major in Materials Science and at MSc. level with majors in Silicate Materials and Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials. The Department is authorized to teach PhD. students in “Technology of silicates, binding materials and high-temperature inorganic materials” (02.10.12) and “Industrial Thermal Techniques” (02.06.13). The academic staff of the Department of Silicate Technology includes 3 professors on tenure positions, 4 Associate Professors (3 of them are on tenure positions) and 3 Assistant Professors. One of the Lecturers has DSc. degree, while another 9 have PhD.
