I have strong background in molecular carcinogenesis with specific training and expertise in several research areas. My research focuses on 1) Understanding the role of oxidant stress in the pathogenesis of renal cell carcinoma, 2) Screening cancer and diabetic patients for DNA repair gene mutations, 3) Explore the mechanism of renal hypertrophy and fibrosis in diabetic patients, 4) Study the mechanism by which TSC2 gene regulates the DNA damage 8oxodG and repair OGG1 pathways and other signal transduction including cell cycle proteins in the pathogenesis of renal carcinogenesis, 5) study the role of tuberin/mTOR pathway in apoptosis in diabetes 6 Study the role of tuberin/mTOR pathway in the regulation of the neuronal damage in Alzheimers diseases AD and Parkinson diseases. I am PI and coInvestigator on several previous and current projects funded by ADA NKF AHA VA and NIH. Attesting to my national visibility I have been selected to serve as a regular reviewer for the Medical Research Program of the Department of Defense and Editorial Board Member of 2 Journals.
