Biography

Sanne Muis has been working at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) since December 2013. The topic of her PhD is assessing coastal flood risk at the global-scale. This research is partly funded by European project RISES-AM and conducted under the supervision of Dr. Philip Ward and Prof. Dr. Jeroen Aerts. Prior to starting at the IVM, Sanne completed a BSc in Earth Science and Economics and a MSc in Hydrology, both obtained at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During this period, she developed a broad interest in hydrology, but particularly in the (societal) impacts of changes in the hydrological cycle due to global warming or land use change. She graduated with a MSc thesis on the influence of land cover change on runoff processes in headwater catchments.
