Mootanah directs the Medical Engineering Research Group at Anglia Ruskin University in Essex, UK, and is a Visiting Scientist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, USA. She obtained her PhD in total hip replacement and MBA at Anglia Ruskin University and completed her B Tech (Hons) and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mauritius. Collaborating with national and international institutions on multi-disciplinary projects, Dr Mootanah focuses her research on the computer simulation of reconstructed bones and joints for the treatment of osteoarthritis, as well as experimental studies to investigate the effectiveness of different treatment methods for osteoarthritis, venous ulcers and Parkinson & primes Disease. Dr Mootanah serves as a reviewer for a number of peer-reviewed journals in the area of Biomechanics and funding bodies.
