Peter Fenwick is a Senior Research Technician at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He studied Biology at Sussex University followed by an MSc in Environmental Science at Lancaster University. He firstly worked as an endocrinologist at Bourn Hall Clinic,then subsequently as a Research Scientist at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, then as a Herbal Medicine Technician for the degree course in Herbal Medicine at Middlesex University. He first came to work at Imperial College London as a Research Technician in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Hammersmith Hospital in 1999. Since 2001 he has worked as a Research Technician in Airways Disease at the National Heart and Lung Institute, during which time he has contributed to the publication of papers, and has presented his research at international conferences including the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the European Respiratory Society Annual meetings. In 2005, he was awarded a British Lung Foundation Travel award to attend the ATS. His current research involves understanding the underling signal transduction pathways leading to the aberrant macrophage and epthelial cell response that contribute to the pathophysiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
