Biography

Lukas Perikleous holds a BEd in Primary Education (University of Cyprus) and an MA in History Education (University of London). He is a doctoral student of History Education at the UCL Institute of Education, University College London. In the past he worked in primary schools in Cyprus, the Cyprus Educational Mission of Great Britain and the Department of Curricula, Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. He also taught History Education at the EuropeanUniversityCyprus. He is the scientific collaborator for History Education for the development of History Curricula in primary and secondary education. He also acts as an advisor for teachers’ training and the design and evaluation of educational material developed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the History Educators International Research Network, the editorial board of the International Journal of Historical Learning Teaching and Research and the scientific committee of Clio: History and History Teaching journal.

Research Intrest

His research interests include children and adult’s ideas of historical empathy, the development of historical frameworks to organize substantive knowledge, the political aspects of history education and philosophy of history.
