Biography

Per Andrén (Director) is an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, and is the director of the National Center for Mass Spectrometry Imaging (NCMSI) infrastructure at Uppsala University. He received a Master in Science (Pharmacy) in 1984), Ph.D. (Psychiatry) in 1989 from Uppsala University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship (Analytical Chemistry) at the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, USA. Since 2010 he has held a 6-year Senior Research Position awarded by the Swedish Research Council - Medicine. He founded a mass spectrometry laboratory at the Uppsala University Biomedical Centre in 2003 as part of the University’s Strategic Renewal and established the first MALDI-MSI laboratory in Scandinavia. The laboratory is part of a European MSI Infrastructure supported by the Cooperation in Science and Technology framework (COST; Action BM1104; Mass Spectrometry Imaging: New Tools for Healthcare Research).
