Biography

Before starting at EIT Auckland as a Business Lecturer Paul was a Lecturer and Programme Leader at the University of Surrey’s Surrey International Institute based in China. He has a PhD in Organisation Theory, Management, and Tourism Management from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. His research interests include: knowledge exchange and knowledge management at individual, organisational and inter-organisational levels; innovation and entrepreneurship in small to medium-sized enterprises; and tertiary student’s learning processes. Current research includes the absorptive capacity, adaptive capabilities, and dynamic capabilities of tourism organisations and study and learning skills processes of Chinese students in Business and Tourism Management programmes. Previous employment includes as the Regional Tourism Manager of a regional tourism & economic development organisation and includes a combined 19 years management and leadership experience in the Financial Services, Tourism and Tertiary Education sectors. His Tertiary Education sector experience includes researching, administrating, tutoring, and lecturing at New Zealand, Australian, and United Kingdom universities. Originally from Taradale, Hawkes Bay, Paul has interests in Travel, Fishing, Reading, Food and Wine, Golf, Hockey, Cricket, and Rugby.
