Biography

Professor Paul Mitchell pursued his Ph.D. in year 1999 in Economics (Major Agricultural Economics)from Iowa State University and his M.A. in year 1991, Classics from University of Wisconsin-Madison he further studied B.A.in the year 1990, History from Iowa State University.At present he is working as an Associate Professor in department of Agriculture and applied economics, University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research program focuses broadly on the economics of crop production, emphasizing insect and weed management for both commodity crops and specialty crops, while his work on risk management examines crop insurance and federal commodity programs to manage farm income risk. Recent work has included developing sustainability metrics for growers as part of a practical agricultural sustainability program, examining the potential impacts of gene drives, and applications of machine learning to farm management data.
