Undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Thessaloniki (B.A. 1983 and Ph.D. 1991 in Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology). He taught Modern Greek Literature at the University of Crete 1991-1993. He has been teaching at the University of Cyprus since 1993.
His research interests include: Modern Greek literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular Greek prose writing 1830-1930 and Greek Surrealism.
