Odysseas Kontovourkis, Ph.D., is currently Assistant Professor in the area of Architectural Communication Media in the Department of Architecture at the University of Cyprus. Prior to his appointment at the University of Cyprus, he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Nicosia, from 2008 until 2010, and Part-time Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Architecture at the University of Cyprus, from 2009 until 2010. He received his Diploma in Architecture Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 1999. He conducted research studies in the field of Structural Mechanics and Dynamics, Theory of Earthquake Resistance Structures in the Department of Architecture Engineering at the University of Osaka, Japan (2001-02), and PhD studies in Architecture (PhD Thesis title: Computer-generated circulation diagrams) in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath, United Kingdom (2004-2009). During his studies he received a number of scholarships, prizes, and distinctions including the British Chevening Scholarship, 2004-2005, the Japanese Government (Monbusho) Scholarship, 2000-2002, the First Prize and Silver Medal of Prometheus the Fire as first graduate student of the year 1999 by National Technical University of Athens, and the Scholarship by State Scholarship Authority of Cyprus, 1993-1998. He has worked as an architect in Greece and Cyprus and he has participated in a number of architectural design competitions.
