Nicos Synnos is a Special Teaching Staff in the Multimedia and Graphic Arts Department/ School of Fine and Applied Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology. He is a PhD candidate and he holds a Master of Arts in Visual Communication with concentration on Cartoon Imagery and Animation from BIAD, Birmingham City University (UK) and a BA(Hons) in Visual Communication–Graphic Design from the University of Wolverhampton (UK) and California State University in Long Beach (USA). He has worked for several years in film, television and internet animation productions in New York, London and Cyprus. He has participated and received awards in several international film, animation festivals and video-art exhibitions. He founded “toonachunks”, an experimental animation studio in Limassol and he is a member of the organizing body of the international animation festival Countryside Animafest Cyprus – Views of the World and president of the Limassol Cinema Club. He is the coordinator of Animation Forum, an annual international event for information and discussion on animation. He teaches animation, photography and design in Cypriot higher education since 2001.
His research interests focus in experimental animation, filmic time and space and the inner frame, and frame by frame animation techniques in virtual spaces.
