Biography

Dr Natarajan Raghunand is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Director of Translational Cancer Imaging in the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona Tucson.  He received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station Texas in 1994. Subsequently he pursued postdoctoral training at the Arizona Cancer Center in tumor physiology and noninvasive imaging modalities for assessing the tumor microenvironment. He is a member of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine ISMRM and the Society for Molecular Imaging (SMI). Research Intrest

Dr. Raghunand’s primary research interests lie in the development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents that are sensitive to low pH and oxidative stress, both of which are defining characteristics of the microenvironment of many solid tumors. He is interested in developing MRI biomarkers of tumor response to therapies, in both the pre-clinical and translational settings.
