Biography

"Dr. Nagwa Hassan Elnwishy is a lecturer of marine biology at the University of Science and Technology, and an academic adisor for the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs. Elnwishy started her academic career by graduating from Egypt’s Suez Canal University Faculty of Science with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural sciences, fisheries, and animal production and fish resources. She later joined the United Nations University in Japan where she received her Master of Science degree in agricultural sciences. She also received her other Master of Science degree in agricultural sciences and fishery resources from Suez Canal University. She then completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree in marine biology under a joint supervision scheme between Suez Canal University and Lund University, Sweden. Elnwishy started her professional career in 1999 as a research assistant in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) unit, Suez Canal University. From 2003 to 2013, she worked at the Biotechnology Research Centre (BRC) in Suez Canal University where she was appointed as an assistant researcher, researcher and then project manager. In 2013, she also served as a supervisor of the marine and environmental biotechnology unit at BRC in Suez Canal University. Elnwishy’s research interests cover a broad range of topics related to marine biology, marine and fresh water pollution; pollution, accumulation and remediation; environment and sustainable development; ecology and environmental conservation; and water bioremediation and purification. She is a member of many research groups and projects including BioMAP, funded by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, the Italian Cooperation and UNDP; Pollution Detection and Removal from Water Systems, funded by the UN; GMO Detection in Food and Feed, in collaboration with Suez Canal University; Aquatic Animals Genetic Diversity in the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal research collaboration between BRC and Fredrico II University, Italy. In addition to publishing 13 articles in the fields of environmental and biological sciences, Elnwishy is also the author of “How to Apply Fish Farming in Drylands?” published by Lambert Academic Publishing in the United States. In recognition of her scientific efforts, Elnwishy was the recipient of the Suez Canal University Award for Scientific Publication Excellence. She also received many honorary certificates such as the Certificate of Honor for Scientific Excellence awarded by the Ismailia governorate; the Certificate of Honor & Acknowledgement awarded by the Biotechnology Research Centre; and the Certificate of Honor for Scientific Excellence awarded by Suez Canal University."

Research Intrest

Elnwishy’s research interests cover a broad range of topics related to marine biology, marine and fresh water pollution; pollution, accumulation and remediation; environment and sustainable development; ecology and environmental conservation; and water bioremediation and purification.
