Dr. Maurizio Bettiga joined the staff of Industrial Biotechnology at Chalmers in October 2010 as Assistant Professor. As part of Chalmers Energy Initiative, his research is focused on the study and improvement of the microbial properties required by the concept of Biorefinery, for the conversion of lignocellulosic raw materials to fuels, added value chemicals and materials. His research interests include the study and harnessing of microbial metabolism for the improvement of bioprocesses, molecular genetics of industrial micro organisms and in particular of the yeast Saccarhomyces cerevisiae
