Luis Alfredo Bent-Shaw the hemodialysis unit director at BGMC. As such, he work as a liaison between the Kaleida staff and nephrologists to ensure that our dialysis patients receive excellent care. I also work closely with the hospital’s Department of Pharmacy to develop internal protocols for administering medications such as erythropoietin (EPO) for dialysis patients and preventing kidney injury in certain patient populations (e.g., patients who are at risk for iodinated contrast injury). He is also the director for inpatient nephrology at RPCI. In this role, I facilitate an effective working relationship between Roswell’s hematology/oncology physicians and our UBMD nephrologists, ensuring our patients the best possible care from this highly skilled and knowledgeable team of specialists.
