Dr. Lili song is educated in China and New Zealand: PhD in Law (Victoria University of Wellington), LLM (East China University of Political Science and Law), LLB (Shanghai University of Finance and Economics). She is qualified to practice law in China. Prior to joining USP, she was a Grotius Research Fellow at the University of Michigan Law School in the United States and an Australian Endeavour Research Fellow at the Australian National University in Australia. Dr. Song was also a guest lecturer at the Peking University Law School in China and the Humanities Institute in Burma and a visiting research fellow at the Center for Forced Migration Studies, Northwestern University in the United States.
The core of her current research is refugee law and forced migration. She has received an Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship, a Human Rights and Asia Fellowship (Seoul National University) and a Postgraduate Research Excellence Award (Victoria University of Wellington) for her research on Chinese refugee law and policy and has published on the subject. Her other research interests are international human rights law and international public law. Dr. Song’s teaching interests include international human rights law, international public law, and contract law. Pro bono services: She has provided expert reports on human rights conditions in China for asylum cases in the United Kingdom.
