Leona Woelk received a Masters in Art Education with an emphasis in Art Therapy from The University of New Mexico in 1993. She worked as Child and Adolescent Program Therapist in an inpatient setting for five years following her degree, during which she also supervised Art Therapy, Social Work and Counseling interns. For the past 17 years Leona has worked in the public health arena, primarily in the areas of program planning, management and implementation. She has worked for the Prevention Research Center since 2008, concentrating on injury prevention research, technical assistance, and program development. Her current work focuses on providing technical assistance, planning and evaluation for sexual violence prevention efforts throughout the State and assisting with the NM Youth Risk and Resiliency Survey and related projects.
