Biography

Laurent Bouton holds a Ph.D. in Economics (Universite libre de Bruxelles, ECARES, 2009). His main research interest is political economy. He is a Faculty Research Fellow of the NBER, and a Research Affiliate of the CEPR. His main research interests are political economy and voting theory. The main objective of his research is to advance our comprehension of political institutions around the world through a better understanding of collective decision-making. One of his main motivations is to produce relevant and practical policy recommendations. He is especially interested in political situations with more than two alternatives (or candidates). While he started as an applied theorist, he has recently broadened his scope by also pursuing empirical work based both on laboratory experiments and observational data.
