My research interests include sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleoclimatology, biogeomorphology, and spatial analysis. I am currently researching how rivers in the Southern Rocky Mountain region responded to the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), a global warming event that occured 55 million years ago. I have also studied the role of vegetation and biological soil crusts in the stabilization of coastal sand dunes on the California Channel Islands and been involved in the creation of USGS geologic map products.
