Dr. Geethi Pamunuwa graduated with a BSc (Honours), majoring in Chemistry from the University of Peradeniya. She subsequently joined the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya as a teaching assistant and worked for one year. Next, she joined the Department of Chemistry, Wayne State University, USA as a postgraduate student and graduated with a master’s degree (Chemistry) in 2010. Dr. Geethi Pamunuwa then started working as a research assistant at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya, working on encapsulation of bioactive agents in, primarily, liposomes and emulsions that have a plethora of applications in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.Sheobtained her PhD from the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya in Chemical Sciences in 2015.Dr. GeethiPamunuwa then started carrying out research on food science and technology and post harvest technology, with a number of collaborators. Dr. Pamunuwa joined the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in April 2016 and is currently working in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening in the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management as a Senior Lecturer.
