Kenneth S. Vecchio received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Lehigh University in 1988. Dr. Vecchio received the Irene Payne Award from the Micobeam Analysis Society (MAS) in 1986 and again in 1987, and received the George P. Conrad II Award from Outstanding Graduate Achievement in 1987. He joined the faculty at UCSD in 1988 in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with the Materials Science and Engineering Program. In 2008, Prof. Vecchio was named the Founding Chair of the Jacobs School’s NanoEngineering Department. In 2009, he was named a Fellow of ASM International, the countries largest professional Materials Society.Kenneth S.
