Biography

Johan Larsbrink works as Assistant Professor in the Division of Industrial Biotechnology in the field of enzymology, with a special interest in carbohydrate-active enzymes. His research is focused on enzyme discovery, studying the enzyme systems utilized by microorganisms to degrade biomass, and how we can utilize these systems in useful applications. As a member of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center (collaboration between Chalmers and KTH), a key aim is to find and utilize new enzymes with useful properties to break down plant biomass in order to generate fuels, materials and high-value chemicals.
