Biography

Jennifer Dickman Portz, Assistant Professor, joined the Colorado State University faculty in fall 2013. Dr. Portz received her PhD from the University of Denver and her MSW from Boston College. As a social worker, she spent several years conducting research at the Institute for Health Research at Kaiser Permanente Colorado and the University of Denver. Dr. Portz currently hold join appointments with Colorado State University, Kaiser Permanente Colorado, and the University of Colorado. Her research focuses on the development of patient-centered health information technologies (HIT) that can be used by older adults, their caregivers, and providers to effectively improve health decision-making, self-management and health outcomes. Her contributions to science include the identification of health outcomes and needs most important to older adults, efficacy of health information technology self-management, and the feasibility of integrating chronic disease self-management with yoga for older adults.

Jennifer Dickman Portz research interest includes: Public health, gerontology, and the use of technology interventions with older adults.
