Biography

James gained a PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy and an MSc in Metallic and Ceramic Materials, both from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). James also has a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Materials Science from the University of Manchester. Before taking up his current position, James was a Forensic Scientist for over nine years, working for the Metropolitan Police Service Evidence Recovery Unit, Key Forensic Services and Manlove Forensics Ltd. During his career James gained expertise in firearms and ammunition examination, crime scene examination and interpretation, bloodstain pattern analysis, body fluid identification, DNA interpretation, and marks recovery and enhancement. James is a member of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA).
