Jakob Åsberg Johnels is an Associate Professor, and holds a position as a senior clinical lecturer at the GNC and the Section for Speech and Language Pathology at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, University of Gothenburg and at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He teaches and conducts research in the fields of language and literacy impairments and autism in children, adolescents and adults. His patient work is based at a child neuropsychiatric clinic (CNC), where he carries out educational assessments with children and adolescents. Jakob was part of the expert group in the SBU* dyslexia project, 2012-2014. 
At GNC he is involved in several projects, including studies relating to i) language development in young children with autism, ii) reading skills of students with ADHD or autism and iii) the social attention profiles of children and adults with autism, which is examined using eye tracking methodology.
