Biography

Basic studies at the University of Cyprus, Department of Education (BA in Educational Studies, Primary Education, 1996). MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of Southampton (1997) and PhD in Language and Education, University of Southampton (2003). Research fellow at the University of Southampton (2005-2008, Department of Modern Languages and Centre for Applied Language Research). Work package leader in the 7th European Framework Network of Excellence for Languages (LINEE, www.linee.info), led projects on multilingualism and education and pedagogic cultures in language teaching.

Research Intrest

Sociolinguistics: language variation, language interaction, discourse studies, language and identity Language/Literacy education: genre-based literacy programmes, critical literacy, language policy, teaching Greek as L1 and L2, multilingualism and education.
