Later she continued her scientific work as Junior Researcher at the Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. In 2005, she joined the PhD program of the Department of Experimental Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan and Department of Oncological Sciences of Torino University, Italy. Under the supervision of Pier Giuseppe Pelicci and Marco Giorgio she studied the role of oxidative stress in the development of degenerative diseases, such as obesity and diabetes. In 2008, she presented her doctoral dissertation “P66 is genetic determinant of metabolic syndrome” and was awarded PhD. From 2009 to 2012, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the CMRB and studied the properties of hematopoietic stem cells.

Research Intrest

In May 2014, Dr. Berniakovich rejoined the CMRB focusing her research on genetic regulatory mechanisms common for aging and reprogramming.
