Biography

Hanna Dijkstra is a junior researcher in the Environmental Economics department at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). She has worked on various projects within the department and in collaboration with external organisations such as WWF. She had researched the effectiveness of marine-protected areas (MPAs) and conducted scoping reports for WWF's case study sites of the Zambezi river basin and the Chaco-Pantanal. Hanna conducted field research in Palau for her MSc thesis, as part of a larger project funded by BMUB and spearheaded by The Nature Conservancy, looking at ecosystem based adaptation (EbA) in Pacific islands. Her project focused on socio-economic valuation of the ecosystem, and included a choice experiment as well as an extensive household survey. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara and double majored in Environmental Studies and Communication.
