Haritha Adhikarla has been an associate research scientist at the Yale School of Public Health since 2016. Her expertise spans diverse areas of bacterial pathogenomics, membrane transport and prokaryotic two-component signaling. She previously led a molecular biology group in India for Sanofi, a multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in France and was involved in bioassay support for vaccine characterization. Subsequently she joined Yale school of Public Health in 2013 as a post-doctoral fellow and was part of a large genome-sequencing effort to explore the genomes of Leptospira sp. During this period her major focus was to unravel signaling mechanisms in pathogenic Leptospira. Currently she is involved in a vaccine project where she established a mouse model to study mechanism of a Leptospira vaccine. Her current studies also focus on serological testing for Zika virus infection.
