I joined the Faculty of Health and Social Science in 2002 as a Practice Educator. This was a good introduction into Higher Education and after three years in the role I was successful in applying to become a Senior Lecturer. In April 2008 I was appointed as Deputy Director of Placements, a role in which I can draw on my experience at a Practice Educator and Senior Lecturer. In my academic role I mainly work with Pre-Registration students as part of the year three team. I also teach across the course and I am co-course lead for the Post Registration Surgical modules. Part of my role is to lead on the development of the numeracy strategy. I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1986 having trained at University College Hospital. Subsequent to this I attained my Diploma in Professional Practice and BA Hons in Healthcare (both with University of Luton). I am currently working in two areas looking at medication tools for practice and service improvement projects.
