Biography

 Georgios Petropoulos joined Bruegel as a visiting fellow in November 2015, and he has been a resident fellow since April 2016. He is a Greek citizen and his research is specialized in industrial organization, competition policy, corporate finance and economic growth.  His work at Bruegel focuses on the digital economy, the market definition in the digital era, the economic value of big data and the generated privacy concerns, and the welfare implications of the emergence of the sharing economy. Georgios has extensive research experience from holding visiting positions at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Banque de France in Paris and the research department of Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto. He has participated in the International Business Competition Program of Deloitte-New York being a member of the team came in first place.

Research Intrest

 For the academic year 2014-2015, he was awarded the prize for being the best teaching assistant of the Master's 2 program of the University of Toulouse. He has participated as a speaker in many academic international conferences and workshops. He has some economic consulting experience from spending a summer at Compass Lexecon in Madrid. In the past, he received research grants from Netspar and TILEC, Tilburg University and by the French Ministry of Education. He is the founder and first editor-in-chief of the TSEconomist student magazine and co-founder of the TSEconomist student association.
