Emma Newcombe is a marine ecologist with experience running research projects in New Zealand, Chile, and the Antarctic Peninsula. She has extensive field experience in research and monitoring, including in coastal ecology, marine mammal distribution (nearshore and off-shore), and invasive species eradication. Her research has been published in the international scientific literature, and she has been involved in numerous outreach projects and events in both New Zealand and Chile. Emma is a strong communicator, prior to her move to science she worked for over five years in communications and publishing. At Cawthron Emma has contributed to a range of research and monitoring projects including in shellfish ecology, environmental impacts of aquaculture, coastal monitoring frameworks, and biosecurity.
