Biography

Emily Carpenter is the co-founder of Vimana Yoga, the Hottest Spot Yoga Studio in Basalt, and Hottest Spot Yoga Studio in Carbondale with her husband Bel Carpenter. She started teaching yoga in 1996 after taking the fourth 500 hour certification from the Yoga College of India. Bel and her opened the first yoga studios in Aspen, Basalt, and Glenwood Springs Colorado. She loved the practice but always felt like she could learn more so she immersed herself in the healing art; practicing the classic 84 since 1997, studying Kriya, Nidra, attending sweat lodges, women’s circles, and massage schools. She has studied many forms of massage therapy and holds a 500 hour certification as well as another 100 hours of cranio sacral therapy. She has been working in the public and private schools every year since 1997 teaching children Yoga, Synergy and Nidra. When Emily retired from the championships in 2013, she had finished 2nd place in Internationals in 2007, 3rd place in Nationals in 2009. She consistently finished in fourth place in the International division, second place in Nationals, and first in our state the last three years she participated. This journey not only helped her overcome her fears, it taught her discipline, perseverance, and each championship presented it’s own quest, meditation, challenges, and rewards. She has to say the biggest medals were the friendships that she still enjoys today. Emily has a lot of gratitude for the experiences.
