Associate Professor Dragan Mikic was born in 1957. He completed medical school in 1982, and specialized in infectious diseases 1993. Since then he works at the Clinic of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. He was defended his master's thesis in 2000. Two years later he defended his doctoral dissertation. His work in the field of sepsis has won first prize at the 3rd Balkan Congress of Immunology in 2001 in Athens. Until now, professor Mikic has published 110 papers, three monographs and several chapters in professional books in the field of infectious diseases. Currently, Dr. Mikic is the first department head and deputy head of the clinic. He is a member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Also, he is an Editorial Board Member of the journal “Vojnosanitetski pregled” and reviewer of several medical journals in Serbia.
His main research interests include Pathogenesis and treatment of sepsis, pathogenesis and therapy of viral hepatitis, zoonoses, influenza, the role of mediators (interleukins, cytokines) in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases.
