Biography

Dr Silk undertook his PhD at the Howard Florey Institute, using functional MRI brain imaging to examine cognitive function in children with autism and ADHD. He commenced a National Health and Medical Research Council ( NHMRC) training fellowship at the Queensland Brain Institute, examining cognitive mechanisms of attention before returning to Melbourne and joining the MCRI, where he is currently on a NHMRC Career Development Award. He has extensive experience with MRI acquisition, analysis methods and their application to cognitive function and structure, particularly in children and adolescents. His work has made major contributions towards understanding the profile of deficits associated with psychiatric disorders.
