Dr. Sawyer has been associated as a clinical and adjunct instructor for physical therapy programs since 1995 in a variety of settings including Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Outpatient Orthopedics, Hospital Based as well as Independent Outpatient Clinics. He has provided guest lectures in physical therapy and physical therapist assistant programs on clinical reasoning, transitioning from student to clinician and electromyography procedures provided by physical therapists. Areas of teaching expertise include hospital based practice, professional interactions, clinical reasoning and electrophysiology. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of New England. He is a board certified Clinical Specialist in Electrophysiology. He is a member of American Physical Therapy Association, North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, American Physical Therapy Association Electrophysiology Section, American Congress of Electroneuromyographers
