Biography

A native of Williamston, NC, Dr. Paula Parker has been teaching for more than 15 years in the areas of sport & exercise psychology, sport sociology and sport management. Dr. Parker’s academic credentials are complemented with real-world experiences working in the sports industry, including 6 years with the Durham Bulls Baseball Club. She is a Certified Consultant with the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP) and a member of the United States Olympic Committee’s (USOC) Sport Psychology Registry. Dr. Parker’s research interests include gender and minority issues in sport and exercise, sport fandom, mentoring in sport management, and positive psychology in sport and exercise. She completed her EdD in sports and exercise psychology in 20054 from West Virginia University.
