Dr Cheung is currently an International Clinical Vitreoretinal Fellow at the Singapore National Eye Centre. He completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne, and specialist ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. He then went on to complete 2 years of vitreoretinal fellowship at the Hong Kong Eye Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital, respectively, with a joint appointment as Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong. Dr Cheung is a clinical retinal expert with broad research interests including medical and surgical retinal diseases, ophthalmic epidemiology, and computer-based retinal vascular imaging. His research work has received national and international recognitions with several awards, such as the Diabetes Research Innovation Award (2009) and the Global Ophthalmology Award (2012), as well as several competitive research grants in Australia and Singapore.
