Biography

Ümit Işlak received his B.S. and M.S. degree in department of Mathematics at Boğaziçi University. After completing his PhD in 2014 at University of Southern California, he worked in probability laboratory at Paris VI- University Pierre and Marie Curie in France and then lectured at University of Minnesota, Georgia Institute of Technology and Boğaziçi University. His research is focused on probability theory.

Research Intrest

Probability theory, concentration of measure inequalities, Stein’s method, Subsequence problems, Random permutation/word statistics and connections to non-parametric statistics, Markov chains.
