Biography

Dr Melinda Randall is a paediatric occupational therapist with more than 20 years clinical experience working with children with neurological impairments, predominantly cerebral palsy. Dr Randall has a keen interest in evaluating therapeutic outcomes for this group of children. This interest led to her being first author on an upper limb assessment of quality of movement for children with neurological impairment, The Melbourne Assessment of Unilateral Upper Limb Function' (MA). In 2010 she completed her doctoral studies to modify and extend the tool for use with younger children and assess the measurement properties of the scoring scale. The result of Dr Randall's PhD studies is the development of a revised version of the assessment titled 'The Melbourne Assessment 2' (MA2). She is currently project manager for two concurrent multicentre randomised controlled trials of upper limb rigid orthoses in children with cerebral palsy. These studies involve interstate collaborators and are based at the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne.
