Biography

Dr Louise Corben is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) early career fellow based in the Bruce Lefroy Centre in the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. In this role she also coordinates the Friedreich ataxia clinical research programme at the Bruce Lefroy Centre and the dedicated Friedreich ataxia clinic at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. Louise is also an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Monash University and a Grade 4 Research Clinician/Consultant (Occupational Therapy) at Monash Medical Centre. Louise has a background in Occupational Therapy working for the past 35 years predominantly in both clinical and leadership roles in the public sector. Her experience in clinical research, particularly in the area of Friedreich ataxia and stroke spans nearly two decades and she has published extensively, particularly in the area of cognitive neuroscience. Louise is particularly interested in understanding cognitive impairment as a consequence of neurological disease, in order to inform the development of effective intervention.
